Historical geography of the Bible : the tribal territories of Israel / Zecharia Kallai. - Jerusalem : The Magnes Press, 1986. The Hebrew University, - vii-xii, 543 p. ; 23 x 17 cm.

This book is a comprehensive study of texts and other data pertaining to the Historical Geography of the Bible in the perios of the first Commonwealth. In the biblical texts that provide the basis for any historical map of the time, the dominant material relates to the territorial allotments to the tribes. However, the historical and geographical interpretation of these texts remains highly controversial. Other geographical data, relating to various historical events of mostly uncontested chronoclogy, are nevertheless also subject to varying interpretations as to their historical and geographical significance. Needless to say, there are also literary and linguistic problems involved, and these too are considered.
