Reasonable enthusiast : John Wesley and the rise of methodism /
Henry D. Rack.
- 2nd ed.
- Nashville (US) : Abingdon Press, 1993.
- vi-xiv, 658 p. ; 23 x 15 cm.
The strength of Henry Rack´s biography of Wesley lies in its analytical approach to the major historiographical issues in Wesleyan biography. This corrected edition prsents a reliable and beliavable portrait of a complicated figure. Rack marshalls a vast body of evidence in the cause of careful analysis and critical interpretation: his notes present a veritable feast of Methidist and eighteenth-century historiography. He is appropiately wary of his sources in this iconoclasm, and venturesome in his assesments.
