The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a Gospel of liberty. Has law any place in it, or is the revelation of God through law confined to the Old Testament? In a word in wich freedom is the greatest of slogans, clearly this is a question of the greatest importance for Christians, and especially for Christians in the newly independent countries. Through careful study of the biblical material, and in particular by exact attention to the various sense in wich the word "law" is used, Dr.Andersen clears up many doubtful points, and shows the true nature of freedom in Christ. In certain situations, law may be an instrument of judgment and death; but basically it is a good gift of God, and therefore, can be in harmony with the ideal of freedom that runs through the whole Bible, Old Testament and New Testament alike.
Dr. Wilhelm Andersen is at present Rector of the Augustana Kirchliche Hochschule at Neuendettelsau in Southern Germany. He has long been a student of missionary problems, and his small book Ttowards a Theology of Mission (English translation by Bishop Stephen Neill) has been widely recognised as one of the best introductions to that difficult and highly contemporary subjet.
